Unreleased song featured on NCIS Soundtrack album

On November 3rd a previously unreleased and even on Bootlegs uncirculated studio outtake from the “Bringing It All Back Home” sessions (1965) will be featured in an episode of NCIS. The 44 years old track “California (Goin’ Down South)” will also be the opener for the official TV soundtrack album “NCIS Vol. 2″, which will be released on the same day. It actually is an early piano-version of “Outlaw Blues”, a song that later appeared on “Bringing It All Back Home” where one verse of the original version remained the same. For the 2009 TV soundtrack album the old track has been newly mixed and mastered, but fortunately you can still feel the spirit of the legendary recording sessions and Dylan at his best.

Christmas Charity album released

Today Sony Music released Bob Dylan’s 47th studio album “Christmas In the Heart”. It’s both his first Christmas album and his first charity album. All royalties will be donated to the World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger worldwide and Crisis UK. Bob Dylan commented, “We must each do what we can to help feed those who are suffering and support efforts to find long-term solutions.” (Source: bobdylan.com).

Alright, even Mike Hobo needs to have a break from time to time…so I’m gone for sunny Italy. Thanks for your continuing support in the past month, enjoy your summertime and maybe you want to return to my site sometime soon. I’ve been doing this for 12 years now and as far as I know only Karl Erik and his expectingrain.com have been online for that long or even longer.
I could have posted “Summer Days”, but I preferred this nice vintage VHS tape from “In the Summertime” (“Shot of Love”, 1981). Enjoy, and don’t get a sunburn!

Here’s a brand new demo of a remix I’ve been working on during the past weeks. I just finished it minutes ago and decided to publish it here for the first time. Let me know how you like it. New Bob Dylan releases in spring 2009

Only two more days until the worldwide release of Dylan’s new studio album “Together Through Life”. Check out “I Feel A Change Comin’ On” on bobdylan.com and post your rating and comment at http://tweedlr.com/albums/62/together-through-life/.
In the meantime you might have noticed that Sony/Legacy has released additional remastered Digipak versions of “The Basement Tapes”, “New Morning”, “Before the Flood” and “Dylan & The Dead” during the past weeks. Most of the other classic albums had already been remastered between 1999 and 2005. Unfortunately Sony did not take the chance to add bonus material to the new re-releases. Anyway due to the improved sound quality it’s definitely worth listening to the albums again.

And what do we learn from that? Not only that it’s fun – and sometimes even works amazingly well.- It’s the fact that you just can’t killl a great song! So keep on remixing, mashing and sampling Bob Dylan tunes…it’s just a new way of doing something similar to what Bob did himself with old melodies and lyrics, creating something new.

There’s a new softdrink commercial out featuring a Will.i.am remix of Bob Dylan’s 1974 classic “Forever Young”. The “refresh anthem” spot ran during the Super Bowl last Sunday and compares scenes from the past and present. It was given the title of “Best chance at making an iPod playlist” by the Detroit Free Press.

Following spots for Apple, Victoria’s Secret and Cadillac, this is Bob’s 4th time around in the world of commercials.

New Bob Dylan website tweedlr.com launched

In December 2008 a new Bob Dylan song rating website launched its beta version: tweedlr.com – named after “Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum”, the opening track on 2001’s “Love & Theft” album. The main part of tweedlr is a rating chart of the Top 100 Bob Dylan songs on officially released albums. Each song can directly be rated on this list, where each user can once rate each song with a maximum of 5 stars. You also see the average rating and the number of people who already rated the song. Each individual rating is saved, so if you return to the site you will see your previous ratings. In case the song you’re looking for is not in the Top 100 list yet, you can find it using the song search bar.
By clicking on a song title you will get a full details page, including the possibility to post a comment on that song. Also music videos are embedded many times as well. If you’re using iTunes, then you can click on a special iTunes link to get an audio sample of the song and the option to purchase the song on the iTunes music store.
Several hundreds of users have submitted their ratings and posted their comments on tweedlr.com so far, and it’s already the biggest single Bob Dylan music rating community on the web. The site is still running as a beta version, so we’re all looking forward to new features in the near future. Positively-BobDylan.com says: tweedlr.com is the website of the month!
