1983: First promo video: "Sweetheart Like You", a song off the album "Infidels", produced by Mark Knopfler

1985: Contributes to "We Are The World", a benefit project against hunger in Africa, initiated by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson.

1986: Performs at "Live Aid", a benefit concert organized by Bob Geldof. Also performs at "Farm Aid", a benefit concert for American farmers.

1986: Contributes to "Little" Steven Van Zandt’s "Artists against apartheid"

1986: True Confessions Tour with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and release of the concert video "Hard to handle"

1987: U.S. Tour with The Grateful Dead

1988: Introduction to the R&R Hall of Fame by Bruce Springsteen

1988: Beginning of "The Neverending Tour"

1988: Joins all-star-band "Traveling Wilburys" with George Harrison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison

1988: "Wilbury" Roy Orbison dies at the age of 52 on December 6, 1988. The Traveling Wilburys’ second album is entitled "Vol. 3", probably in respect to this loss.
