Originally released as one of rock history's most famous bootlegs. It was recorded with The Band in the basement of the house "Big Pink" in Woodstock 1967. 8 years later some of the over 100 recorded demos have been released officially on this album, some overdubbed or re-recorded by Robbie Robertson.
In 2009 Sony/Legacy released a remastered Digipak version of this album. Finally in 2014 a fully restored compilation of all original recordings was released: "The Basement Tapes Complete".
